For this Snippets post, I don’t have many to share, but here are a few from the projects I’ve been working on.

This coldness between them felt wrong, but she couldn’t manage anything more than strained pseudo-civility with him.

“Would you have me stand by and do nothing then?” He tucked his hands in his pockets and turned his gaze toward the roses beside him.
“Of course not. You’ve never been suited for inaction, nor is it suited for you.”

“I’m just trying to give some honest advice as a friend. Take it or don’t.” He turned back to look through the windshield. The single streetlight of the library parking lot tinted everything a shade of orange-yellow.
In the pause, Ivy wondered if she might ask if there was a third, easier option.

Dust clouds surrounded the two before clearing away to reveal the glint of sunlight on the blade of her knife, which she pressed against the man’s throat without the hint of moving it away. 
“Do you surrender?”
The man glared. 
“Do you surrender?” Her voice rose on the words.
