Summer Is Here! | June 2016

The year is halfway over already, guys! Can you believe it?

June was not as busy as some months have been. Mostly, I was focused on writing, but here are a few random highlights and tidbits about the month.

* Finished the second draft of Trace, which means I have accomplished this year's goal of completing two revisions.
I'm thinking of putting together a snippets post later in July since I haven't done one in a while, so expect some Trace snippets with it. :)

* Actually read more than I expected to.
Some favorites from this month: The Watch That Ends the Night and The War of the Worlds. (I'm now nine books away from my reading goal of 50 books.)

* Finally watched Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
I had high hopes for this and really wanted to love it but...I didn't? It was okay, but something about it just didn't quite draw me into the story as well as I would have liked. Not sure what though. That being said, I didn't totally dislike it either. (And oh my goodness THE COSTUMES. Seriously. I want Lizzy's purple coat very much.)

* Bought a new planner.
It even matches the Bible study journal I got for Christmas. :) It's the third planner I've bought in this brand and I really like how they're made. Plus, they're affordable and cute.

* Enjoyed the first batch of fried green tomatoes of the summer.
And they were delicious.

* Got my first feedback on the current draft of The Assassin's Daughter.
My mom and sister did a read-through for me since they both read the previous draft too and could compare notes about it with me. I will be polishing up TAD in the first week of July and should have it ready for beta-reading. :)

* Sort of almost forgot that Camp NaNo starts tomorrow.
I'm planning to participate, but I don't know exactly what I'll be working on for certain. Maybe Roguess? I don't want to take on a huge project but I don't want to take the entire month off from writing either.

Tell me about your June! Are you participating in Camp NaNo in July?

  1. I'm witholding judgement on PPZ until I finish reading the books. I loved the first book, but the movie veered from that plot so I need to read the rest of the series to figure what all is up with the movie. So we will see what happens. Also, good luck with Camp NaNo!

    1. Yeah, the plot was quite different from the book (I've only read PPZ so far, though I probably should check out the other books too). I mean, I kind of liked the idea they were going for, but something about the execution fell a little flat for me. I'll probably watch it again at some point though. I'd love to hear what your thoughts are! :)
